Year 10 win through to next round of Premier League Enterprise Challenge

The Premier League Enterprise Challenge is an annual event whereby Premier League and Football League Club Community Organisations delivering Premier League Enterprise initiatives, schools, community groups and young people take part in an exciting national competition. The Challenge builds on existing enterprise education programmes delivered by the Foundation all year round.

Now in its seventh year, the Premier League Enterprise Challenge is supported by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and has become an important milestone in the Premier League Communities events calendar. Over 8,000 young people have taken part in the Challenge to date. The competition is aimed at providing pupils in school years 9-10 with the opportunity to learn basic principles of business and self-employment through interactive learning opportunities.

Jack Stewart, Jaz Walker-Patterson, Abbie Dean, Jacey Wilkinson and Connor Robinson (Year 10) represented the Academy. They presented to a board of judges both professionally and confidently, and after a close decision, managed to beat the competition - Sharples School successfully.

The judges were particularly impressed with their public speaking ability and the amount of thought they had clearly put into their ideas (the challenge is to increase revenue streams from USA for BWFC).

What next?

Now the students have won the support of BWFC, they will be assisted by BWFC and Bolton Wanderers Community Trust in developing their ideas during match days at the club, all leading up to the regional heat at Manchester United’s ground, Old Trafford in 2017.

The project needs to remain ‘TOP SECRET’ ready for the next round to protect the idea from the opposition.

The students were a credit to BSCA, thank you to the staff who not only supported them but also allowed them time out of their lessons.

We wish them good luck as they progress through to the next round of the competition.
