Gold Award (6th Form)

When can I do my Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award?

If you intend to stay at Bolton St Catherine's Academy Sixth Form then you can take part in the Gold DofE programme even if you haven't done Bronze or Silver Award already – you'll need to check with your DofE Co-ordinator - Mr Hill.

Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time, so they can be fitted in around your academic study, hobbies and social life. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed before your 25th birthday.

Gold timescales:

  • Volunteering section: 12 months (1 hour a week, 48 times)
  • Physical section: 12 months (1 hour a week, 48 times)
  • Skills section: 6 months (1 hour a week, 24 times)
  • Expedition section: 4 days and 3 night

If you didn't do Silver, you must undertake a further 6 months in either the Volunteering or the longer of the Physical or Skills sections.

To complete the Gold Award, you must also undertake a Residential once you've left the school - you'll have until your 25th Birthday to do this.

  • Residential section: Undertake a shared activity in a residential setting away from home for 5 days and 4 nights.
