At the end of a momentous academic year for BSCA, which in January saw the academy transfer to its new sponsor – The Bishop Fraser Trust, staff and students are rightly pleased that progress and consolidation have continued.

Results for students achieving grade 5 or higher rose to 18%. 34% of students achieved a new style grade 4 or higher for English and Maths combined. Students achieving a grade 5 or more in Maths also grew by 9%.

And there were some fantastic individual subject performances as well. Engineering saw 100% of students achieving good passes or above, ICT 98%, Sport 89% and Business Studies 81%.

Amongst the star students, Head Girl Molly McDermott gained an outstanding six grade 9's, an A*, one 8, one 7, one 6 and a Distinction*. Bradley Edwards gained one 9, five 8's, two 6's, an A* and a Merit. Jaycee Wilkinson gained two 9's, three 8's, three 7's, a 6, an A* and a Distinction*.

Headteacher Rachael Lucas said – "We are delighted with the progress we have made so far. We have made significant improvements in some key subject areas. Students who have worked hard have come away with sets of outstanding results worthy of all their hard work and the hard work of the staff. We are at the start of our journey and have seen some of the key curriculum decisions we made in September already have significant and rapid impact. We wish all our students at Bolton St Catherine's future success in the next stage of their educational journey, many of whom we will welcome back to St Catherine's into our Sixth Form."
