Smithills Christmas Markets – Saturday 2nd December

Girls Group and Lads Group decided to return to the Smithills Christmas Market after their very successful visit last year.

After a great deal of thinking a new plan of action was drawn up so the groups could make something different to sell. The plan was quickly devised and involved everyone’s favourite – FOOD! What could be more welcoming on a cold Saturday in December.

The groups swung into action on Friday after school, working hard to make sure everything was ready for an early start.

Girls Group made vast quantities of corned beef hash ready to sell and made sure they had all the ingredients for hot chocolate and hot vimto to make up on the day.  Meanwhile the Lads Group went for a simpler product to sell with Mr Thomas and Mr Pacey in charge of buying plenty of marshmallows to toast on the day.

Bright and early Saturday morning everyone met on Redcar Road, found their gazebo and set up ready for business. The markets were declared the best ever by both the visitors and the stallholders with lots and lots of visitors snapping up everything for sale. Both Mr pacey and Mr Thomas had beautiful rosy cheeks after spending their time toasting the marshmallows!

The Girls Group and the Lads Group raised a magnificent £375 between them which as been donated to Urban Outreach.
