Year 12 Visit UCAS Convention at Manchester Central

Year 12 recently went on their annual trip to the UCAS Convention at Manchester Central. This event is useful for all students to experience so they get a better understanding of the different Universities and the courses they have to offer.

When arriving in Manchester the students were welcomed into the venue filled with stalls - over 100 different universities were there and current student representatives from each university were eager to answer any questions students may have. Questions were asked about the subjects, the application process and open days our students could attend, along with what life is like in the town or city the university is in.

Leaflets and copies of the university prospectus were freely available (along with some ‘goodies’) so we could take them home and reflect on the different courses and offers.

There were also representatives available to discuss the apprenticeship route as another possibility after leaving BSCA6.

Reflecting on the trip our student Jordan Gee said 'I really found the convention helpful and it has given me the information I needed to take the next step in looking into universities after Sixth form'.
