Meals and Break Times

School Meals
We have our own kitchen offering  a choice of well-balanced nutritional meals.  All children are supervised throughout the dinner time session by School Meals Supervisory Assistants (SMSAs) or dinner ladies as the children call them.  The Primary Phase Leader or representative is always present on site.

Excellent Eights
This is a system of groupings which is in action at dinner times, where older children are teamed with younger children to help to encourage table manners, co-operation and responsibility for one another.

Break time snacks
Healthy snacks may be brought to school for consumption during break times but are also usually available in school and may be paid for as arranged by the class teacher. We are on the school fruit scheme, where every Key Stage one child has the opportunity to choose a piece of fruit or vegetables for their morning snack. Any surplus fruit is shared with Key Stage two children.  Free milk is served each morning to children under five.  All other pupils are encouraged to buy a carton of milk at a subsidised price. Nursery and Reception class are provided mid-morning with a variety of snacks which include fruit, toast and sandwiches.
