St Catherine is the patron saint of students and scholars. Our name reflects our values; children and young people are at the centre of all we do. We believe that every child and young person is important and it is our mission to guarantee success for every individual.
Bolton St Catherine’s Academy is a new establishment - open in September 2009 in the buildings of two previous schools. The Academy is enjoying significant capital investment and has a well resourced curriculum. In two years time the Academy will move into a new state of the art £36m building.
Our total commitment to the achievement of children and young people in our care is reflected by some of the images and information in this booklet and typified by our aspiration to be the best school of our type in the country. We have high expectations of children and young people and of ourselves; we have set really challenging targets and goals for ourselves that will mark our development over the next few years. You will see them displayed around the Academy should you visit us.
Positive relationships are vital to success in life and in education, people learn far more effectively if they are happy and secure and if they are engaged in the academy and can make a positive contribution. We actively promote the notion of service and helping others and all in the Academy follow an enrichment programme that ensures they develop these attitudes and skills.
We believe that partnership is essential to successful education and that the Academy listens to, and grows with, its community. Parents are a vital partner in ensuring the progress and outcomes for children and young people are outstanding. The academy welcomes partnerships in many forms.
It is my hope that the information here is useful to you and that this is the start of a fruitful working relationship benefiting the achievements and outcomes for children and young people at the academy.
I look forward to meeting, or hearing from you in the near future.
