Support and Guidance

We adapt our curriculum annually to ensure that the courses we offer are tailored to our students’ needs and aspirations. Each year we ask students which subjects they want to study and build our curriculum around their answers and aspirations.

During the pre-Sixth Form meetings students receive guidance as to the suitability of their chosen subjects according to their strengths, ability and future aspirations. This is followed up by a series of mentoring sessions in which course choices are reviewed and adapted when appropriate.

Form tutors frequently mentor each of their students on a one to one basis to give constructive feedback, guidance, support and advice. Progress reviews are also held twice a year with the student, parent and a member of the Sixth Form leadership team.

This individual care and support ensures students overcome any barriers to learning and development.

This support includes access to a specialist Sixth Form Academic Mentor who is trained to coach students on independent study and revision skills and essay writing. As a recent graduate the Academic mentor will also coach students on making appropriate choices with regard to their future.
