Site Facilities
The Sixth Form College is made up of several facilities that are exclusively for Sixth Form use. Students have private and exclusive access to this area of the site which includes a Cyber Cafe, social area, designated Sixth Form teaching areas, Sixth Form toilets and kitchen area and shared access to the Independent Learning Resource Centre (ILRC).

Technology to support and enrich learning
The Sixth Form College will offer wireless internet access throughout the building. All classrooms will be fitted with data projectors and interactive whiteboards.

In addition, all Sixth Form students will have:
•    Access to a wireless laptop linked to the internet via broadband
•    A personalised electronic smart card to access your own virtual learning area
•    FREE use of all IT facilities

Sport and Leisure Facilities
Our two large indoor  Sports Halls cater for a range of sports including volleyball, five-a-side football, basketball, cricket, badminton, trampolining, netball and tennis.

Cyber Cafe and Learning Deck
You will be able to utilise an exclusive Sixth Form cyber cafe with broadband internet access.

A dedicated Sixth Form area called The Learning Deck will provide you with access to journals, textbooks, reference books, novels and magazines.

Special Learning Resources
The Sixth Form College will have:

•    7 dedicated science labs
•    A main hall for classes and major productions
•    Spacious art studios
•    Music, radio and recording studios
•    Well-equipped technology rooms

What support will I receive?
Life as a Sixth Form student is exciting and challenging. At Bolton St Catherine’s Sixth Form College, we will take great care to make sure you settle in quickly and achieve your best.

Your personal tutor will usually stay with you throughout your time at College. Supported by a Phase Leader and Vice Principals they will:

•    Provide support and advice
•    Ensure you are making good progress in your studies
•    Set targets and action plans
•    Help you complete university and job qualifications
•    Write your university and job references

Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
EMA is a weekly payment of £10, £20 or £30 depending on your household income. The money is intended to help with the day-to-day costs when you stay in education such as travel, books and equipment for your learning programme. It is paid directly into your bank account and is available during term time for any academic or vocational course (up to Level 3) which involves at least 12 hours of guided learning per week. Bonus payments of £100 can be claimed if you are up-to-date with your work and have excellent attendance.
