Examinations Programme
At BSCA we are aware of the importance of exams for all students. As part of the process to prepare students for external exams we undertake a number of practice PPEs (mock) examinations.
This section has let you know the different resources and support we provide our students to achieve their goals, but one very important part of developing our young people is through practicing sitting exams and approaching them as though they were real exams so how can parents and carers help:
- Provide a quiet space at home for your child to work.
- Provide materials such as pens, paper and a scientific calculator.
- Show a positive interest in your child’s school work and test them on key topics.
- Advise your child on how they can break tasks down so that they are manageable.
- Celebrate their achievements.
- Agree the rules for homework, coursework and revision.
- Agree the balance between work and social life and stick to the agreement.
- Encourage your child to access the extensive support that is available at school such as after school clinics.
- Purchase revision guides or on-line revision resources. All subject teachers will be able to direct you to their recommended revision guide and many are available to purchase through SCOPAY.
Students in Year 11 will sit two practice sessions of PPEs (mock) examinations and in year 9 and 10 they will sit one session. This result will provide an indication of how well your child is doing and what actions need to take place to address underperformance and celebrate success.
This year the PPE windows for year 11 are:
- Week beginning 28th November 2022 for two weeks
- Week beginning 27th March 2023 for two weeks
Year 10 PPE window:
- Week beginning 23rd January 2023 for two weeks
Year 9 PPE window:
- Week beginning 1st May 2023 for two weeks
The formal external exam window begins approximately the 15th May and runs until 30th June 2023. None of these dates are confirmed until the exam boards release exact dates. At that time, we will publish that information on the website.
