The Bolton Area Learning Community and Careers

The Bolton Area Learning Community and Careers

Career professionals around Greater Manchester meet several times a year to share good practice and coordinate some of our activities. Very strong relationships have been forged and the over-arching aim is to share knowledge, resources and expertise for the collective benefit of all of the young people of Greater Manchester.

Bolton Learning Partnership

The Bolton Learning Partnership is an ambitious educational collaboration which consists of twenty eight secondary schools and colleges working together, alongside Bolton Council to support educational improvement and provide the best opportunities for young people in the borough. As a partner we share not only a sense of common moral purpose and a commitment to the personal growth and development of all of our learners in Bolton but also a relentless ambition for their academic success.

Strong values of courage, honesty, ambition, respect and trust drive all that we do.  Through a shared belief in these values and working together through the provision of school to school support, joint professional development and sharing best practice, we shape and drive education ensuring a quality first approach.

Working collaboratively, and with the expertise and experience of our strategic partners we support one another to raise educational standards and develop experiences and opportunities for all our students.  We empower our learners, shape and develop workplaces, markets and their society. We also aim to reach a position where all of Bolton’s secondary schools are judged to be good or better and where a significant number are judged as outstanding.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Greater Manchester has been selected as one of 20 ‘Careers Hubs’ around England to help transform careers education for young people. The Bridge GM Careers Hub is made up of 36 local schools and colleges representing all ten Local Areas in Greater Manchester. Bolton St Catherine’s Academy is one of the Hub schools/colleges that lead change and improvements in careers education working together with specialist employers, universities, training providers, and career professionals to improve careers education. Bolton St Catherine’s Academy is one of the three Bridge Careers leading schools which make up the newly formed Bolton CEIAG Careers hub. As a trio, we share good practice and work collaboratively with other schools within the Bolton area to enable them to work towards achieving Gatsby benchmarks for their schools and colleges. The hub will be used to standardise how schools address meeting the Gatsby standards.

Parents/Carers

We work closely with parents/carers to support their children to make informed career choices. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend the careers events and options evenings. To seek advice and ask any questions you might have regarding careers pathways, parents/carers are always welcome to contact Ms Begum.

We would like to work with organisations of opportunities in education, training and employment who can contribute directly to our career programme by giving our young people insights into future options. Contracting with agencies that can provide services that support the development of our careers programme in schools and harnessing the active involvement.
