Change Can be a Good Thing

This New Year sees some changes at Senior level in the Academy. Mr Harris’ work on setting up a collaborative group of local schools is now complete allowing him to return to full time at the Academy.

Our new Vice-Principal, Mr Jon Skurr, joins us to look after Behaviour and Safety from Howden School in Yorkshire where he was an Assistant Head. Mr Skurr is looking forward to applying his leadership skills, gained both in education and as an international rugby player and coach, and accepting the challenge of improving the lives of our students and helping them achieve even more success.

There has also been a change of role for Mr Senior. After many years leading on behaviour and safety, he is now taking his vast experience of teaching and leading in schools into the area of attainment and assessment – he will be devising new ways of measuring and analysing progress amongst our students to allow us to target their efforts where they will benefit most.

New Head of Sixth Form – Many of you will already know Miss Parry who has a wealth of experience in teaching from being a drama teacher, to her last post as Head of Creative Faculty specialising in working with Year 12 and 13 students. Her vision is to create as Sixth Form who are fully supported and given every chance to succeed onto their next step of their ‘life of learning’ journey. Miss Parry is excited to be part of shaping their futures.
