BSCA sees significant GCSE success!

At the beginning of a new chapter for Bolton St Catherine’s Academy, the school has seen a significant improvement in its GCSE examinations with some notable successes for its star students! 36% of students achieved a new style grade 4 or higher for English and Maths combined - almost a 100% increase from 2016's equivalent figure. English saw an individual increase of 16% and Maths 18%.

And there were some fantastic individual subject performances as well. Engineering  saw 95 % of students achieving A*-C or equivalent, ICT 91%, Music 85%, Health and Social Care 69% and Drama 68% -  all A*-C or equivalent

Amongst the star students, Alysha Pritchard topped the class with a fabulous 11 A* or equivalent, closely followed by Jack Alston, Emma Leach and Alex Latham all with 8 A* or equivalent.

Vice Principal Mr Richard Senior said – “these results how a significant improvement on last year. This is particularly pleasing in the context of the changing and more challenging national picture for English and Maths and is a real testament to the students and staff. Under our new Headteacher and as part of the new Bishop Fraser Trust, we are confident that we can continue and accelerate the progress we have started to make.
