Academy help's get Gaz & Leccy under control

Bolton St Catherine’s Academy are helping get Britain’s energy usage under control. As part of the government’s programme of rolling out Smart Meters, the Academy has agreed to host a Smart Metering Tower, which you may have seen being erected last week.

The process is being run by Arqiva who have the contract to provide this service in the North West. The tower itself allows homes throughout the area to communicate with their energy suppliers – allowing up to the minute readings to be taken of both Gas and Electricity, aswell as allowing homes to monitor their own energy usage through the use of in-home displays. By displaying when they are using energy, it is hoped households will not only help the environment, but also save money into the bargain.
