Ebony - Ex-Student Is Off to Uganda

Do you remember Ebony Cropper? Ebony was one of the students featured in our ‘mylife’ video - click HERE to take a look!  She was a Bolton Youth MP from 2014 – 2015 and is currently studying Politics at Chester University.

Ebony already has proved how strongly she feels about looking after those less fortunate then herself by having her very long hair cut and then donated it to the Little Princess Trust. The charity provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults up to the age of 24 that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. She has also carried out a volunteer role working with young people in Chester with mental health issues.

As the end of year 2 approaches for Ebony she is off to Uganda for 2 months on a volunteer placement with VMM International on United Nations approved projects. Ebony had to fund raise and plan out the work she hopes to achieve which includes working with children who have mental health issues as a result of their parents suffering from HIV and educating girls about the menstrual cycle especially to make sure they do not miss vital education and schooling.

For 4 weeks Ebony will be working with another volunteer and for the final 4 weeks will work alone in the community which will test her resilience and inner courage to succeed in a most unfamiliar country.

We are looking forward to Ebony visiting us before she leaves for Uganda and hopefully we can support her fund raising to add value to her visit, and on her return to update us all about her experiences.
