Y12 Visit UCAS Convention at Manchester Central

Y12 recently went on their annual trip to the UCAS Convention at Manchester Central. This event is useful for all students to experience so they get a better understanding of the different Universities and the courses they have to offer.

On arriving in Manchester the students were welcomed into the venue filled with stalls - over 100 different universities were there and current student representatives from each university were eager to answer any questions students may have. Questions were asked about the subjects, the application process and open days our students could attend, along with what life is like in the town or city the university is in.

This year to save carrying heavy university prospectus’s home each visitor was given a bar code and they could order the materials to be sent directly to their home.

There were also representatives available to discuss the apprenticeship route as another possibility after leaving BSCA6 and some students took advantage of this.

Reflecting on the trip our students felt  ‘the convention helpful and it has given them the information they needed to take the next step in looking into universities after Sixth form'.
