Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people. – Galatians 6:9-10
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
It's estimated that the average adult makes about 35,000 choices. I don’t particularly like making decisions so when someone asks me what I want to eat or what I want to do, I find myself saying “It’s your choice” in probably too many decisions. At the end of the day, no matter how decisive or indecisive we are, there are some decisions we have to make. Mary had a choice to give up, or to take the circumstances she was in and make the most out of them. She did it all with excellence. I don’t know what the proper dictionary definition of excellence is but I choose to explain it as ‘doing the best with what you have got’ and that is exactly what Mary did.
CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK
Although her circumstances weren’t ideal, Mary did her best as a mum to care for her baby with the little she had. How can you do your best with what you are given? How can you show care with excellence? It could be encouraging a student who is trying their best to do even better. Or you could show some extra care to another member of staff who is trying their best. You never know the impact that your words or actions could have.
