Sixth Form Closure Consultation

Dear Parent/Carer/Student,

Please see below a consultation on the possible closure of BSCA Sixth Form, which I would welcome you and the students' views on.

Although it is with a heavy heart to be consulting on this, I feel that this is the right recommendation to make. We currently only have 19 students in year 13, and 31 students in year 12, and this is clearly not viable going forward. Fortunately in Bolton, and in neighbouring authorities, there exists a wealth of very high quality provision. Our small scale centre cannot offer the breadth and depth that they do. We already offer outstanding Information, Advice and Guidance here at BSCA, and will continue to do so to ensure every student makes the right choices for them post 16.

As you know, the last few years have seen BSCA go from strength to strength, and I really want our full focus to be on the improvements across years 7 to 11. I think this is the right next move to enable us to do so.

Please note: the current year 12 will continue into year 13 with no changes and no disruption to their studies.

Clearly, your views are very important in the process, so please do take the time to read our rationale, and to complete the consultation form if you would like to add to the consultation process.

Best wishes,

Rachael Lucas
