Our Pastoral Team

The first few years at secondary school are an important time in a child’s life where the foundations are set and built upon to enable lifelong learning. It is an exciting time moving up from Key Stage 2 and an important stage where they become full and mature members of society starting to contribute further to their community.

At BSCA, during Key Stage 3, we aim to help develop students into young adults who can respond well to the challenges they face in everyday life by nurturing their moral virtues. These character traits will enable them to live, cooperate and learn with others in a way that is harmonious, neighbourly and morally justifiable.

Students remain in one of six tutor groups with where possible, the same Form Tutor for the whole of the five years that they are with us. Each year group is ably led by a Year Leader.

Our Year 7 Head of Year is specialist transition leader. This is a fixed post. From Year 8 the year leader stays with that group for the next four years of their BSCA journey. In this way parents/carers, students and school quickly develop good relationships and establish strong lines of communication – a key factor in helping to ensure a happy and successful time for our students.

The well-being and safety of our students is of considerable importance to us at BSCA; consequently we strive to provide a happy, safe and enjoyable learning environment for them. We have a dedicated team who aim to support youngsters and their parents/carers through their school life in matters of attendance, health issues, social and experience that life does not always run smoothly and from time to time we need the help and support of others. This support is readily available in all we do.
